CINCO DE MAYO
For cinco de Mayo, the students learned the famous song "Cielito Lindo" and wearing sombreros sang along with the mariachis. They also enjoyed dancing "La Raspa", mexican hat dance. They watched videos, I really recommend the one from "Holiday for Children". We had a fun day!
LAS FRUTAS
In second grade, students are learning the fruits. They created a video to teach the names of the fruits in Spanish; I am really amazed at their pronunciation, it seems so easy for them. They played at the market and were very surprised to learn that two thousand Colombian pesos was the same as one dollar.
LA CASA
Students in fifth grade are learning about the parts of the house. We made up a sign for each part of the house and played charades. Students prepared a dialogue, I video taped it and presented it in the morning announcement broadcast. Even students that are very shy were willing to participate and did a great job!

Hola,
I just video taped students in sixth grade performing a skit at the restaurant. One of them was the client and the other one was the waiter/waitress. They had fun practicing the skit and were really motivated. I wish I could post the video but because they are students I like to keep it in house. It is amazing how some of the students have very clear pronunciation and intonation when they dramatize. I will keep writing in my new blog, make sure you visit it.
